OLA joins the 5th National Urban Forum in Colombia

OLA Director Michael Cohen joins an interesting group of keynote speakers in Bucaramanga, Colombia during the 5th National Urban Forum(June 15th and 16th 2017).
The event is envisioned as space of dialogue and collaboration between different agents of urban change. Its objective, derived from the New Urban Agenda, is to prioritize the five most important challenges (out of 12 pre-selected) for Colombian cities to work for during the next 20 years.

Sakiko Fukuda-Parr's book, written together with Terra Lawnson- Remer and Susan Randolph, published by Oxford University Press in 2015, was named "The Best Book in Human Rights Scholarship" by the American Political Science Association in 2016.
The methodology has been further adapted by The Global Urban Futures Project to develop The Habitat Commitment Index, a tool to assess the degree of fulfillment of national commitments made by government at the UN Habitat II Conference in 1996.

Habitat en Deuda: Veinte años de políticas urbanas en América Latina is a comprehensive qualitative study to come out of the HCI on six Latin American countries and the progress made from Habitat II to Habitat III.

The Observartory of Latin America
The OLA
The Observatory of Latin America is a fellow New School organization directed by Professors Michael Cohen and Margarita Gutman of The New School. OLA has been active with Global Urban Futures most recent in Quito, Ecuador for Habitat III. There OLA presented in there own side events in addition to the HCI.
OLA conducted the first of many qualitative studies based on the finding of the HCI of six Latin American cities.
