The Urban Thinkers Campus, held on October 24 at the New School, drew a crowd of nearly 300 participants for a full day of presentations and discussions that will ultimately feed into the Habitat III process. The event was co-presented by the Global Urban Futures project, as well as a number of other groups.
Citiscope’s Habitat III correspondent, Greg Scruggs, has published two articles covering the event:
Scruggs cites Parsons Professor of Urban Ecologies William Morrish, who is also a GUF team member, on the difficulties of defining “The City We Need” in the American context, who is quoted as saying, “For San Francisco, the ‘city we need’ is Google bus service,” he said. “In Ferguson, it’s ‘stop arresting me and putting me in jail’.”
The presenting organizations are currently producing a report detailing the proceedings and outcomes of the NYC Urban Thinkers Campus, including the nine “Urban Labs.”
